You can get cash advances from most credit cards, unless you have poor credit or a large balance. It is not connected to your bank account (those are check cards, ATM cards or debit cards).

However, you should only get cash advances from credit cards in emergencies. It is very expensive. There is usually a cash-advance fee ($ 5-$ 25) + there is no “grace period” so you get charged interest (10-35+% APR) right away, even if you pay your balance in full every month.
